I recently introduced a new product...Avocado Hair Butter and it's no surprise that my husband likes it better than the Shea-Aloe Hair Creme. It's no suprise to me because he oftens like the new product, until it finishes and then he goes back to the old product and then starts saying that it is now his favorite!
I personally prefer to use Avocado Hair Butter when my hair is curly and the Shea-Aloe when hair is straight.
This Avocado Hair Butter is excellent for the hair because the oil is rich in proteins, amino acids and vitamins A, D, and E. The oil also acts as a humectant which means that it adds moisture to the hair. This is why it is ideal for when my hair is curly, it helps maintain the softness of my curls without making it stiff and crunchy. The hair butter also contains Jojoba Oil (one of my favorite oils for my hair). I love using Jojoba Oil in my products because it is an excellent conditioner and moisturizer. It's properties resembles the properties of sebaceous oil (sebum). Sebum is needed to moisturize the scalp and thus maintain beautiful, healthy hair and help reduce hair loss.
Enjoy!

I was interviewed on Let's Talk Live about natural body care products. Let's Talk Live is a local television show and since the show is unscripted I wasn’t exactly sure what I would be asked. The host Natasha made me feel comfortable so I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be. Below is a clip of the show.

The Acai Berry Hair Pomade is a new product that I will be releasing shortly. I have been doing a lot of research trying to find a natural product to help prevent hair loss. My mother's hair has become significantly thinner, she had always had really thick hair and I wanted to find something for her hair and scalp. I'll admit that I was concerned for myself as well, in case this was heredity. So there are a few products on the market that are known to help prevent hair loss and/or regrow hair. What is interesting is that some products work for some, but not for all, and even one of the most popular doctor recommended product (Rogaine), does not work for everyone.
I am more of a preventative medicine (usually herbal) kind of person. I believe that if you can prevent something why not do so, instead of trying to get a cure. This was the thought behind creating this product.
The ingredients of my Acai Berry Hair Pomade includes the following:
Neem oil is often used as an anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, antiseptic, and anti-parasitic agent. It is used to treat skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, ringworm, chicken pox and dandruff. It is rich in fatty acids and glycerides and is an excellent natural moisturizer.
Also included in the Acai Berry Hair Pomade are the following essential oils: Lavender, Cedarwood, Thyme, and Rosemary. These essential oils were used because of a study I read about:
"Isabelle C. Hay and colleagues from the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in Scotland saw several cases of alopecia areata, a type of hair loss that causes patchy baldness, improve after patients used essential oils/ herbal treatments. External application of various herbal essences is believed to benefit those who suffer hair loss due to alopecia. Of those receiving active treatment, 44 percent (16 of 35 patients) significantly improved." Reference 1. Hay I, et al. Randomized trial of aromatherapy?successful treatment for alopecia areata. Arch Dermatol 1998;134:1349-52.
While some may not find a 44% improvement significant, it's basically the same response rate dermatalogists expect when using medical treatments. This was really surprising!
Overall, the Bernee's Naturals Acai Berry Hair Pomade is an excellent moisturizer. For those who want to use is as a deep conditioner, I would recommend putting it on the hair or scalp and wrapping your head in a warm towel for deep conditioning.
